Story’s Setting

In the year 2035, something strange happened. Suddenly, all spacecraft beyond Earth's low orbit went dark, and communication with the Mars colonies was lost. This event came to be known as the “Great Disconnection.” Whenever a spacecraft went beyond Earth's orbit, about 2000 kilometers above the surface, it would lose contact and never return…

For twenty long years, human struggled to find answers. Countless astronauts vanished without a trace, leading us to reluctantly abandon our ambitions. Some believed that an invisible force was sealing Earth off from the universe—a punishment for human’s endless desires. The mysteries of the universe remained unsolved, and a wave of religious fervor swept the world.

By the end of the 21st century, humanity had made great progress in technology and sustainable energy. Robots had resolved our environmental problems, and life on Earth became stress-free. However, it grew tiresome for many, and new sources of entertainment emerged.

The Great Disconnection remained as a mystery, with space exploration seen as ancient wisdom by the younger generation. Due to the 100% failure rate of past missions, “Unified Regulations for Space Exploration” was implemented to forbid humans from venturing into space, leaving the task to robots.

But a group of courageous astronauts and scientists refused to accept this prohibition. They formed the “Cosmic Travelers,“ believing in exploration and adventure as the meanings of life.

How will the future youth and their robotic companions become Cosmic Travelers? Are they ready for disconnection? What mysterious force severed Earth from the universe? Who will venture beyond Earth in the future, and what are they searching for? The answers lie ahead in this futuristic animated series.

Why are we doing this, and why Sci-Fi?

Currently, the mainstream animation themes in China are primarily based on martial arts and fantasy, with very few works centered around science fiction. There are essentially no standout representative works in this genre.

On the international stage, there is a high level of acceptance for animated content with science fiction themes. American sci-fi animated series like "Rick and Morty" and "Gravity Falls" have gained significant popularity worldwide with a large fanbase even in China.

The Chinese sci-fi craze began with "The Three-Body Problem" and officially kicked off in China's sci-fi film and television industry with the release of Liu Cixin's "The Wandering Earth" movie during 2019. The huge success of "The Wandering Earth" further confirmed the vast market for science fiction works in China.

Science fiction-themed works can stimulate children's curiosity, and this curiosity often stays with them throughout their lives, becoming the driving force behind their thirst for knowledge and exploration of the world. In an age of "entertainment to the death," we hope to create something different.
